Our Nikko Trip

This week Jeremy Stock, Tomo Tabata and Zengo came to Utsunomiya to hang out and see Nikko.
No trip to Utsunomiya is complete without trying gyoza.
Sadly, heavy rain meant we saw a little less of Nikko then we would have liked to.
Still a very impressive temple regardless of the season.
After getting back from our soggy adventrure, We played a little Street Fighter IV while drying off. Here's Tomo giving me a beating as Ken.
Here's Jeremy and Tomo going head to head. Needless to say, I've spent a lot more time playing Street Fighter IV recently than I should.
Finally, Jeremy gave me an awesome pic he did of me and Honma at the Tokyo Mini-con last month.

My Tokyo Mini-Con Work

Since this was my first convention I thought I'd try to do something new, so I made Kage his own brand of hot sauce.
I made a box lunch of Sousuke from rice, seaweed, and eggs.
I made a zombie movie for Andy
And since Tanaka likes smoking and Street fighter I made him some Dhalsim matches.

My Awesome Week

I had a great week this week, because I went to my first Caricature convention and met a lot of great artists. I also got to spend time with some co-workers, some of whom I had met and some I had not met before. Not only are they all great artists, they have all been really helpful and supportive.

My first Day at LaQua

I've already spent two days so far in January drawing caricatures. Both days were spent at LaQua which is a shopping center next to the Tokyo Dome stadium. One day was spent working with Toru Tanaka and the other day was spent with Aki Inoue. Both do excellent art and you can check out their blogs from the column of blogs on the right side of this page.

During my time at Caricature Japan so far, I've usually drawn between 15 to 20 people a day. I often forget to take pictures, but here are a couple I actually remembered to take.

Here are some college students from Waseda University. Sadly the money minded students wanted the more affordable black n white sketch even though I would have liked to color it. They were a lot of fun to talk to. I thought it was one of my better likenesses but sadly when I took the picture I didn't catch the smile that I drew.
